The 63rd Street Shuttle was a short-lived service on the New York Subway in 2001. Two other services, known as the Sixth Avenue Shuttle, served roughly the same purpose.

First Sixth Avenue Shuttle[]

The first shuttle began in May 1997. The shuttle ran late nights only from 21st Street–Queensbridge to 2nd Avenue as an all local route. Prior to that, the F train served the IND 63rd Street Line during late nights. This service was discontinued in 2000 when preparation for full time service on the IND 63rd Street Connector began.

63rd Street Shuttle[]

This was a service, using a yellow Template:NYCS S, that ran during reconstruction of the IND 63rd Street Line, and was the only regularly scheduled service that has used the BMT 63rd Street Line.

Service began on February 22, 1998, and originally only ran between 21st Street–Queensbridge and 57th Street on the BMT Broadway Line. On April 6, it was extended to 34th Street–Herald Square on weekdays, skipping 49th Street. This replaced B and Q trains that had used the IND 63rd Street Line; those were truncated to 57th Street at Sixth Avenue (which was closed late nights). Work was completed on May 22, 1999, the shuttle was discontinued, and B and Q trains returned to 21st Street.

Second Sixth Avenue Shuttle[]

This service, with an orange Template:NYCS S, served the IND 63rd Street Line and the IND Sixth Avenue Line local tracks, running between 21st Street–Queensbridge and Broadway–Lafayette Street. Service began on July 22, 2001, due to the closure of the north tracks on the Manhattan Bridge. On December 16, 2001, the full IND 63rd Street Line opened, and the shuttle gave way to rerouted F service. At the same time, the Grand Street Shuttle was lengthened to West Fourth Street–Washington Square.
