GMC-Bus-old-_IDENTICAL_(BLUE-GRAY_COLOR_SCHEME)_TO_STARTFORD_BUS_LINE_-_CT.jpg (download)‎ (400 × 234 pixels, file size: 15 KB, MIME type: image/jpeg)

This photo depicts a close similarity with that of the very few pre-1950 'Old Look' General Motors buses that were used on Stratford Bus Line Inc.'s sole public bus route - 'HUNTINGTON ROAD", which operated hourly between Downtown Bridgeport CT and Stratford's north end via Huntingto Rd. - returning via a loop through Flat Rock Rd.,Cutspring Rd., Hilltop La., and Wigwam Lane. Exceptionally, Stratford's buses bore a medium blue-gray color scheme. In 1975, these buses were finally retired (long overdue, as I recall how rickety they were when I rode them during my youth) when having merged with The Greater Bridgeport Transit District. Ridership did increase on this route after Connecticut Railway And Lighting Co. (CR & L Lines) ceased all operations in Greater Bridgeport and their other state divisions in November 1972.
