This is an exact likeness of the newer and longer GM Fishbowl 51-seat bus models - inclusive of its blue stripe, of which 100+ vehicles were purchased and delivered in 1974 by CT Dept. Of Transportation. The majority of these buses were leased to The Connecticut Company - about to be re-named 'Connecticut Transit'. The remaining buses were disributed to various transit agencies statewide that provided local bus service, with Bridgeport receiving 15 vehicles. It marked the first time that longer buses (compared to the 40-ft. 44-seat models or shorter) were running in Greater Bridgeport. Stratford Bus Line. Inc. - which until 1972 had operated only one bus route ('HUNTINGTON ROAD' - using only old and short GM 28-seat models), then received two new and much longer GM Fishbowl bus models with a 51-seat capacity from CT Department Of Transportation in 1974 under a leasing agreement- as it assumed the former #14 Stratford - Bridgeport bus route segment following the demise of its operator Connecticut Railway And Lighting Co. (CR & L Lines) after November 1972.
